Kilpisjärvi Visitor Centre

Kilpisjärvi Visitor Centre provides information on the natural features of the Käsivarsi region. The Nordkalottleden Trail, which passes through three countries, begins on the grounds. Another trail, which passes by Lakes Tsahkaljärvi and Saanajärvi, also begins there. During winter, a ski trail begins from the grounds and goes to Lake Saana, and to the Kilpisjärvi Retkeilykeskus hiking centre.

There’s a play corner for the kids with books on nature. The permanent exhibition At the Edge of Scandinavia depicts the unique nature of Finland’s largest Fells in the Käsivarsi area and life in Yliperä. There are also several short slideshows about Kilpisjärvi, plants in the region and reindeer husbandry.
