Kaukametsä Cultural and Congress Centre

The unique Kaukametsä Cultural and Congress Centre in the centre of Kajaani houses a congress and concert hall, a music institute, a community college and the city’s cultural services. Kaukametsä can host meetings, cultural events and private banquets for 2 to 500 persons.

The main hall has seating for 526 persons, the music institute’s Kouta Hall seats 167, the Leihu Hall 100 and the community college’s auditorium 80. Kaukametsä’s restaurants serve local delicacies based on Kainuu’s rish culinary traditions. The Kaukametsä hall, community college and music institute were designed by architects Sinikka Kouvo and Erkki Partanen, who subsequently received the Finnish State Architecture and Urban Planning Award for their work.
