New Luxury Hotel

Kalastajan Majatalo opened a new luxury hotel in 2016. Their spacious and comfortable twin rooms offer a touch of luxury, with two 90 cm-wide beds, a large table and a flat-screen TV.  with free Wi-Fi in public areas of the main building and hotel rooms. Fisherman’s Inn Apartments

Fisherman’s Inn’s cosy 40–85 m2 apartments are well-equipped with a fireplace, TV, modern kitchen, and a large patio, and can accommodate from 2 to 8 people. Three apartments have also a sauna. There is a free Wi-Fi  available in public areas of the main building and hotel rooms. There is also a caravan site with eight all-year-round caravan pitches with electricity and the use of sauna and toilet.

Guossi Restaurant & Hansabar Lunch & Grill

Kalastajan Majatalo has a new meeting point for lovers of good food the Guossi Restaurant, which focuses on fresh, local, natural produce and traditional Lappish delicacies. The menu features lovely dishes like “Traditional sautéed reindeer” and “Sompio lake’s whitefish roe”. The restaurant also has a modern meeting room for 22 people. The Hansabar Lunch & Grill, popular amongst locals, seats up to 180, and is fully licenced, serving delicious lunches and steaks, as well as pizzas, kebabs and grilled food.

Year Round Activities

The majority of summer visitors arrive to try their hand fly-fishing in the best waters for Atlantic salmon, but there are plenty of other options for guests. To the south is the Muotkatunturi Wilderness Area, while to the north lie the Kevo Strict Nature Reserve, and a little further there is the Kaldoaivi Wilderness Area, making Kalastajan Majatalo the perfect base for hikers and nature lovers. In winter Kalastajan Majatalo organise guided skiing and ice-fishing trips to their wilderness cabin in Rohtolompolo, which includes transportation on a snowmobile sled, food, drinks and sauna. Guests can also avail of their Reindeer Experience, which gives an introduction to the traditional reindeer herding lifestyle of the local Sámi people, and get to feed the reindeer and enjoy the surrounding nature. Other activities available include snowshoe trips to the Sulaoja spring, a sacred site for the Sámi, husky rides to the Sápmi Park, northern lights treks, snowmobile safaris, and day trips to Lakselv, Porsangerfjord and Nordkapp in Norway. One of the most popular packages is their romantic getaway to a remote cabin on the fells, where the couple are driven by snowmobile, treated to a traditional dinner in the gámme, a Sámi peat-roofed dwelling, with a sauna and hot-tub included in the luxury weekend.
