St Lawrence Stone Church

Janakkala church is dedicated to St Lawrence. The precise date of construction is unknown. It is believed that the church was consecrated in September 1520. Åke Tott, the master of Häme castle, is assumed to have been the builder. Tott’s family coat of arms is on the eastern wall of the church and in front of its western side there is a three-storey campanile, the work of master builder Martti Tolppo in 1784. The bells date from 1687 and 1767.
