Iniö Church

Iniö Church, in the Norrby village, was built between 1797 –1800. The church was inaugurated in 1801 and was named after the newly born Princess, Sophia Wilhelmina. On Good Friday, 1880, the church was badly damaged in a fire, and the renovation of the building took a whole year to complete. The last major renovation was carried out in the 1960’s. There are some interesting artefacts in the church, including a votive ship, the barque Maria, and an unusual brass chandelier, pieced together from two separate 17th century chandeliers. The two bells of the church are still rung by hand.
