The Skogster Museum is the main office of the Hämeenlinna City Museum. Downstairs there is a cozy museum hall, reference library and museum shop as well as the interactive Ooh, Hämeenlinna! exhibition, in which even more miraculous truths about Hämeenlinna are revealed behind funny and assertive scouts. Upstairs in the Museum Skogster you will find the exhibition of the oldest Savings Bank Museum in the Nordic countries.

Did you know that the Finnish national composer Jean Sibelius (1865–1957) was born and lived in the first 20 years of his life in Hämeenlinna? Sibelius’ birthplace is decorated with a cozy museum, which tells about the years of the composer’s master’s childhood and youth. The exhibition features furniture, documents, photographs and small objects that tell about Sibelius’ boyhood and the Hämeenlinna era.
