Church of Kvevlax

Kvevlax church was built between 1691-93, by the peasant farmer Hans Larsson Qweflander. The main timbering work would have been completed in 1692, and the inauguration took place on the fourth day of Christmas the same year. Kvevlax church, with its octagonal shape,  is representative of Finnish churches with a long history, and is probably the oldest in Finland of this type of building.
The church was extended to 1794-95, to the form of a Cross Church and the old look was largely lost. The pulpit dates from 1695.
