Jyrkkäkoski Iron Works

Mr Franzen, the owner of the Salahmi iron works got permission for building a blast-turnace in Jyrkkäkoski. A new blast-turnace in Scottish style was built in 1874. The blast-turnace produced pig iron and bar iron as well as nails and items in cast iron. The blast-turnace was closed in 1911. Today, the site is a museum.
