J.L. Runeberg’s home
Welcome to the J. L. Runeberg Home, Finland’s oldest home museum!
Step into the atmosphere of an 1860s writer’s home, the final residence of Finland’s national poet Johan Ludvig Runeberg (1804–1877) and his wife Fredrika (1807–1879).
The museum’s unique charm lies in its original furniture, artworks, tableware, and old houseplants—many grown from cuttings of Fredrika’s own plants. The house breathes history down to its wallpaper.
In summer, join daily guided tours and explore the meticulously restored garden in full bloom. Families with children can enjoy activities in the old carriage shed and self-guided tasks inside the museum, while the courtyard hosts events throughout the year.
