Historiallinen Helsinki ja Suomenlinna opastettu kävelykierros
Time: 5 hours – Physical difficulty level: Moderate – Language: English
PRICE: 1-2 people 350€
Go Tours Helsinki will meet you at the oldest part of Helsinki – the Senate Square, next to the statue of Alexander II. The Senate Square, which dates back to the year 1757, was re-developed in a neoclassical style to replicate St Petersburg in the early 1800’s, and it boasts an interesting mix of ecclesiastical, civic and governmental buildings. Outside of the square, there are a number of other important buildings that tell the stories of the Finnish past that should be seen by the avid explorer. The second half of the tour will take a relaxing 15 minute boat ride to the UNESCO sea fortress island of Suomenlinna. The island has been host to several major battles, and has seen many wars. Here you can explore over 250 years of Swedish, Russian and Finnish history – along with some amazing nature and viewpoints.
Some of the sights that we will visit on the tour include:
– Senate Square
– Helsinki Cathedral
– The House of the Estates
– Beautiful harbour viewpoint
– Uspenski Cathedral
– Market Square
– Suomenlinna sea fortress
