Farm Holidays

With the growth in public awareness of the problems facing the environment there has come a simultaneous growth in the number of people seeking ecologically sound vacations. One of the more ecologically sound accommodation alternatives available in Finland are farmstays and farm holidays.

Many Finnish farms, mostly located in the south, offer accommodation with breakfast included, and these present a unique opportunity to experience the rural way of life and meet local people. There are often plenty of activities available, from boating to horse riding, or even the chance to help bring in a harvest. The majority of farmstays are independent, family run houses, with the rest gathered loosely under an umbrella organisation that merely provides their marketing. Breakfast is always included, but evening meals are also available for a very reasonable stipend.
