Discovering Finland

Discovering Finland was founded to help promote tourism in Finland by providing potential visitors with a fully comprehensive guide to this beautiful and remarkable country. Our main site is comprised of seven main sections, each of which breaks down in smaller subsets of information. The idea is to make the site as easy to navigate as possible, while managing to answer whatever possible questions a visitor might have.

To complement Discovering Finland we also keep a Twitter feed which tweets events that are happening on a daily basis and retweets other assorted posts from a number of feeds that we follow. Our Facebook page does much the same, albeit with more information, and allows others to join in the conversations should they wish. It also allows others to add their own events, happenings, or items they feel might be of interest to people either visiting Finland or living in Finland.

This blog has been set up to provide more lengthy reviews of attractions and entertainment in Finland. Unlike the site, the blog is more a personal response to living here, and allows me to write pieces on things that wouldn’t normally appear on the main site. For example, did you know that Finland hosts a World Cup in swamp soccer? Or in snowshoe football? And of course the blog also will allow others to comment and add their own tuppence worth. I’ll also be happy to consider any recommendations – although I’ll be quick to remove to remove blog comment spam whenever I find it.

Hopefully this blog will become a helpful resource for those visiting Finland, and for those already here. Occasionally there will be guest bloggers, but for the most part I’ll be writing everything myself.

Enjoy!
