Kattila – New Cuisine World at Linnanmäki

There are many things that we associate with Amusement Parks – thrills, excitement, fun, laughter – but great food isn’t usually one of them. That’s set to change in Linnanmäki, Helsinki’s hugely popular Amusement Park, now that Kattila has opened. Kattila provides six different dining opportunities, with  six new kitchens with top chefs (with no less than a total of four Michelin stars between them!).

Kattila – New Cuisine World at Linnanmäki

Lihapullabaari - Meatball Bar Kattila

Lihapullabaari - Meatball Bar Kattila

The idea of a meatball bar originated in New York, where it has proven to be immensely popular. Given that meatballs are something of a Finnish speciality it comes as no surprise that one of the six restaurants in Kattila is dedicated to this humble and tasty dish. Restaurant Lihapullabaari has chef Tommi Tuominen at the helm, who is well known from the top restaurants Demo and Grotesk, and he has added a contemporary touch to this traditional dish, using locally sourced ingredients whenever possible.

The Midhill restaurant of Hans Välimäki, known for his work in Chez Dominique (which has 2 Michelin stars), also emphasises a North American dining concept, where top quality beef is the star of the menu. Excellent burgers and steaks form the spine of his menu, complimented by a fine range of wines and ‘skumppa’ or bubbly!

Restaurant Coccola Kattila

Restaurant Coccola Kattila

The philosophy behind the Coccola restaurant, run by the chefs of renowned Michelin-starred Postres, is that there is nothing more precious than spending time together over excellent food. Coccola may well be the livliest of the six Kattila restaurants, catering for children and adults alike with a menu of Mediterranean dishes where the emphasis is on Italian cuisine.

Sushibar + Wine Kattila

Sushibar + Wine Kattila

Those familiar with Helsinki will no doubt also be familiar with the Sushibar + concept – there are already three restaurants in the city run by the We Are Group, who actively participate in the development of local food, drink and city culture. The stylish blend of Scandinavian design with Japanese cuisine and imported organic wines is a proven winner, and the new restaurant in Kattila, Sushibar + Wine, promises to continue the trend. The perfect spot to enjoy a quick lunch or drink.

Ilona Ravintola Kattila

Ilona Ravintola Kattila

Ilona Ravintola continues the traditions of Restaurant Aino, focussing on Finnish flavours and ingredients such as reindeer, vendace, salmon, chanterelles, false morel and the wild berries for which the country is famed. Chef Jukka Halmetoja is in charge of this casual family bistro, and ensures that only the freshest, seasonal ingredients leave his kitchen. Ilona also provides a drinks menu where the focus is on small Finnish breweries.

Restaurant Caruzello

Restaurant Caruzello

The sixth restaurant under the Kattila lid (Kattila is Finnish for cooking pot) is Caruzello, located on the upper floor. Kim Heiniö is in charge and it is Kim’s vision that created the concept of providing world-class cuisine under one roof in Linnanmäki. Caruzello serves a modern European family buffet, and the restaurant can also be reserved for private functions and parties, with a range of menus to choose from.

The new cuisine world Kattila can be found at the northern entrance of the amusement park. Most dishes can also be ordered as take-out!
